<description>The home of Tibetan Buddhism has been stolen by an imperial power that has no plans to ever give it back. The land is too valuable to the Chinese to withdraw and return it to the living inhabitants. Rather the Chinese are in the process of systematic genocide in their attempts to crush and overwhelm the people and culture of Tibet.

China will never willingly release Tibet. The Dalai Lama is beginning to publicly pronounce what many have known to be true for a long time. China plays a smart hand, and China knows the value of the lands of Tibet --- the prized minerals and fuels, and most importantly the waters of Tibet. China thinks forwardly and understands the rising value of fresh water resources over the coming decades and centuries. Tibet is the headwaters of most of the major rivers of Asia, which supply water to 1/2 the population of Asia (which is 1/3 the population of the world!). Control of the waters of Tibet is control of Asia.

Initially China sought expansion and used the ideology of the Cultural Revolution to justify their conquest of Tibet. However, the recent uprisings in Tibet demonstrate that China has not to date completely overthrown and undermined the traditions, values and ideas of the resilient Tibetans.

Tibet is a treasure to the planet that deserves World acknowledgement… and needs World dedication to the preservation of Tibetan culture, Tibetan Buddhism and to the protection of the headwaters of Asia. Tibet is a great opportunity for the human race to come together and begin to create a positive future. By recognizing the value of the Tibetans, their culture and the water that connects all humanity and all life on the planet, we can make a giant step in this direction. To this end, I think that we, the Dalai Lama and the world should think beyond nations and propose the creation of a World Heritage Site where the culture, people, religion and resources of Tibet will be protected for all humanity.

China will never willingly hand these resources to any potential adversary. The world must join with the Tibetans and pressure China to take the lead in establishing a neutral World Heritage Site in the disputed territory. In this way, China can mitigate some of its horrible actions toward the Tibetans and raise its world status (and its Karmic status). Our problems… and their solutions are global. We are all World Citizens.
