The Dalai Lama is coming to Boston for four days this spring. The revered 73-year-old spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism will make stops in Cambridge and Boston and also at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, according to a story in “Articles of Faith” the Boston Globe blog about religion, written by Michael Paulson. Tenzin Gyatso, the man who calls himself  “a simple Buddhist monk”, has a packed itinerary.

Inauguration of The Dalai Lama Center at MIT on April 30:

The Dalai Lama will inaugurate The Dalai Lama Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and will speak about Ethics and Enlightened Leadership.

The event is open to ticketholders only, according to information posted on M.I.T.’s Dalai Lama Center for Ethics website. A limited number of tickets will be offered to MIT students via a lottery and details on registering for the lottery will be posted at the center’s web site. Meditation and Psychotherapy: Cultivating Compassion and Wisdom, is the title of a talk to be delivered by the Dalai Lama and organized by the Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education, at Boston’s Park Plaza Hotel. Contact the group’s website for more information.

Teaching at Gilette Stadium in Foxborough, MA on May 2

On the morning of May 2, the Dalai Lama will present an Introduction to Buddhism: The Four Noble Truths, an appearance organized by the Tibetan Association of Boston (TAB), at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.

The Tibetan spiritual leader will also give a public talk in the afternoon of May 2, entitled The Path to Peace and Happiness, also organized by the Tibetan Association of Boston (TAB), at  Gillette Stadium. The TAB is also planning a Tibetan Cultural performance between the two sessions, from 11:45a.m. 1:35p.m. Please check back closer to the event to confirm events. Proceeds will go toward construction of a Tibetan Heritage Center in Boston, MA.

The two  public appearances at Gillette Stadium may be the best bet to catch one of The Dalai Lama’s talks. Tickets for both talks are available on the TAB website. A single ticket will allow access to both sessions, according to information posted on the site. Ticket prices start from $37.50 for both the morning and afternoon session, and $22.50 for only the afternoon session. Tickets can be purchased online through Ticketmaster or by phone (866) 448-7849.

    I hope to see him! I saw him recently on PBS, in a documentary about his mother. It was very sweet and her life story was really interesting, as she was around for the invasion and occupation. The film was called The Great Mother.
